A Brave And Bold Poem

Description

{A Hybrid Universe. One amongst an infinite collection within an infinite multitude of variant realities.}

Gotham City at night. Two cars were in a wild race.
The Joker and his moll in the lead. The Batman behind giving chase.

Harley Quinn fired her bazooka straight and true. With mad pleasure she did squeel.
The round hit just right. Causing the batmobile to lose a wheel.

Batman could only watch in frustration as again the cackling duo got away.
Such dark rage burned within him. He swore those clowns were going to PAY.

Suddenly the night lit up bright as day. She appeared on a motorcycle glowing like a flare.
He didn't recognize her until she shut down the haze. The costume of the Dazzler revealed her to be Alison Blaire.

"I can catch them." She said. "Hop on if you want in."
Batman had no choice but to accept the offer. With Dazzler's help perhaps he'll finally capture Joker and Quinn.

He bolted over and got onto the back of the bike. Holding on to her waist.
She gunned the bike's engine and they barreled through the street. Batman was back in the race.

"Don't glow." He cautioned even though she wasn't. "He'll see us coming if you're lit up like a Christmas tree."
She thought was he serious? Lecturing about stealth? A guy who drives a custom job that screams, "LOOK AT ME?"

Her vocal response was a polite "No bat-seat driving. I gotta focus." And then there was dead silence. Absolutely no sound to be heard.
She was using auditory absorption. To track the laughter of a green haired turd.

Dazzler zig-zagged through the traffic at a breakneck pace. Not glowing one bit.
Batman had a grim smile when they saw the "Funny Car." Finally this was it.

Of course they saw them coming. Of course they did attack.
The murderous duo started with a smoke screen. And then used an oil slick after that.

Batman knew the trick and warned Dazzler. Glowing eyes forming a solid light ramp was her reply.
They charged up the construct and flew through the air. Over the smoke and slick they did fly.

Unseen they soared over Joker and Harley. "Cover your eyes." Dazzler said. "It's gonna get bright."
Green Lantern proof lenses were brought into play. "Go for it." He said. And once again Alison Blaire lit up the night.

Joker and Harley thought it was a helicopter's spotlight. Police or news they didn't care.
Harley tried to get to her bazooka. She was going to blow it right out of the air.

But the mutant girl pointed down to the car. She fired a solid photon beam that bore through its hood.
The engine was smashed. The car was now scrap. The clowns were stunned. Dazzler stopped them. She stopped them but good.

"Most impressive, Dazzler." The Dark Knight said. "Thank you. I'll take it from here."
He bailed and, electro-charging his cape to glider mode, swooped down.
Dazzler formed another ramp. Landing on it she rode her bike back to the ground.

By the time she reached bottom the fight was over. The Batman didn't mess around.
In the time it took her to form the ramp and land he had the Joker and Harley knocked out and bound.

She heard the sirens. He must have somehow signaled the boys in blue.
She rode over. "You good?" The smile was slight but it was there. "Yes." He replied. "Thanks to you."

Ali returned a bigger smile, "Glad to help. I'll leave you to your work."
Batman nodded with a slight bow and she nodded back. But before she could leave Joker woke up and acted the jerk.

"Disco is dead, Bitch!" He proclaimed with a shout.
"So is Vaudeville." Dazzler countered calmly. Then she fired a strobe that knocked him back out.

"Makes him easier to handle." She said with a shrug. Dazzler then left with a wink and a smile.
Thanks to her help Batman finally recaptured Joker and Harley. Thus finally ending their biggest murder spree in quite a while.

Come morning Alison Blaire left town in her tour bus. She was going to Metropolis for her next concert date.
Joker and Harley Quinn were locked up back in Arkham. And Bruce Wayne slept in late.

What a wonderful piece of work
Clever and  fun
I thought the bat-mobile losing a wheel ( thanks to Harley's bazooka) and the Joker ( and  Harley ) getting away was a nice echo of the old child hood chant
I like that Bat man had rely on Alison for a ride ( really liked her "No Bat seat driving " retort was great and the soundless pursuit  scene  conjures up a great mental image
Ali's motorcycle - Old Paint ?-  weaving  in and out of traffic  catching up to the Joker  and the heroine  displaying  her solid light creation skills  ( to create the ramp that avoids the  oil slick and the smoke screen and solid photon beam that destroys the "Funny Car's " engine) would make a great  movie sequence
Plus this all quietly demonstrates Alison's skill in  manifesting and deploying her powers  and reminds us that  though her powers  may be impressive  it is  Ali's skill and expertise  born of  long hard practice  spent   developing and refining the use  her powers  and mental toughness and grace under pressure    in deploying them that makes her such a effective heroine
I really like your story makes that point
I also really like Ali's quiet and effective  response to the jokers crude and easy"Disco is Dead" insult Our heroine is truly sharp and smart
Anyway
Thank you for posting
