No Good Deed...

Electro attacked me.

Why, I don't know.

We had a gig at Ariel's. And we were gonna rehearse there before the concert later that evening. When I arrived I saw the familiar cars in the parking lot. My band was already there and waiting for me. But when I went inside I couldn't find anybody. My friends, the club employees, no one.  I was alone.

Or so I thought.

Suddenly HE appeared and, just like that, started hurling electrical bolts at me. I dodged them and tried to fight back. But my light had no effect on him. Like mine, Electro's eyes were immune to brightness. The only thing I had that could stop him was my laser. But before I could bring it to bare I got hit.

The bolt sent me flying through the air. Unable to control my short circuited body I crashed through the doors and landed, tumbling, on the pavement outside. I laid there like a broken doll.

The last thing I saw, before completely blacking out, (perhaps forever), was Electro standing over me with a creepy smirk.

Then nothing.

{Except for an old transister radio and magnetic roller skates she's not carrying any tech at all.}

[So you're sayin' that light gimmick of hers is...]

{Biological.  Maybe she's a lab experiment like the Wasp. Or the victim of some freak exposure like the Invisible Girl. Or maybe she's a mutie like the Scarlet Witch. She and those X-Men did bust up a dive fighting some armored mooks last year.}

[It don't matter how the bitch does it. What matters is she's gonna be an example for people who think they can defy the Kingpin.]

[Damn right or me. Kingpin put me in charge of this area. And ain't NOBODY gonna screw around in my area. Lawman's gonna deal with her. I want you to hang around in case she tries anything.]

The voices are the first thing I'm aware of.

The next is the pain I'm in.

I'm hanging by my wrists, with my feet dangling. Mouth is stuffed. Lips and eyes covered with tape. I can't feel my dress or shoes. Except for my panties I'm hanging NAKED in front of these creeps.

The groans of my awakening attract their attention.

"Deal. Now you two get to work. I'm outta here."

I hear him leave and another guy approaches me. "Lawman" I think. He cops a feel. The only reason I don't kick him where I think his nuts are is because I know Electro will zap me if I did.

"So yer the sweetheart of the super hero set." The creep walks around me. Groping me as he speaks. "Sing. Dance. Fight demons and goddesses. Big Bads like Doc Doom, the Hulk, Absorbing Man."

My fear is switching to anger with each touch.

"You even give us mere mortals a hard time. Techmaster. Bo Barrigan. Is it true you play 'Robin' to the Blue Shield's 'Batman?'"

He slams something hard into my belly. Not his fist. But something blunt. The air is knocked out of me.

"You got more guts than brains, Dancing Queen."

I get belly-poked again. Much harder. He raises his voice and starts shouting.

"ESPECIALLY IF YOU THINK YOU CAN STICK YER GREASEPAINTED PUSS INTO THE KINGPIN'S BUSINESS!!!"

Kingpin? What does he mean...?

Like a baseball bat, (which I think it might be), he repeatedly starts swinging that poker of his into my stomach.  It's too much! Without thinking I flare up. The dazzle-burst sends him screaming, and cursing more profanities than I ever heard since the basketball coach back at high school.

As expected, Electro zaps me. I scream through an unyielding gag. My body jerks and convulses from the high voltage onslaught.

I black out again.

Smelling salts revive me and "Lawman" seriously begins to beat the crap out of me.

Bound as I am. Unable to use my power.  There's not a damned thing I can do to stop it.  


  's shining superstar's getting the worst of it this time. Will justice finally come her way?
